Mustafa al-Siba’i – “It is said: the first who introduced [the practice of fabricating narrations concerning the virtues of individuals] were the Shi’a, due to difference between the various groups [and partiality].
Ibn Abi’l Hadid in ‘Nahj al-Balagha’ states, ‘Know, that the origins [of the practice] of fabricating/lying in ahadith [narrations] that concern the virtues of individuals was inaugurated by the Shi’a.”
