‘Abdullah ibn al-Mubārak [d. 181 AH] – “How can I ever feel lonely…”

Nu’aym b. Hammad – “[‘Abdullah] ibn al-Mubarak would lengthen his stays at home, and he was asked, ‘you remain at home for long periods, do you not feel lonely?’ – he responded, ‘how can I ever feel lonely whilst being w/ the Messenger ﷺ and the Companions, and their Followers?” (i.e reading studying their narrations and biographies.)
