Ibn Qudāmah al-Maqdīsī [d. 1223] – “Wise individuals do not speak without reflecting, contemplating, and preparing the speech within their hearts…”

Ibn Qudāmah al-Maqdīsī – “Wise individuals do not speak without reflecting, contemplating, and preparing the speech within their hearts, as per the saying, ‘the tongue of the wise person is behind their heart, if [the speech] is in their favour, they speak, and if not, they remain silent – while the speech of the fool is from the tip of their tongue [they readily speak whatever comes to mind.‘”
